The good news is there is an easy and effective way to do so. It does consume a lot of time. Read on to get the nitty gritty right now.

First, you will need to gather a few items. You should have transfer paper. This is special kind paper that you can request for at your local super store or tattoo parlor.

Then you will need carbon paper and it should be found at the same spot. You will also want to obtain a deodorant stick and scissors. These will all be needed to accomplish your goal.

Next, you should have a design picked out. You will take it and draw or print it out on regular paper first. You will want to look at both the line and color of the image that you are interested in.

After dong this, you will know for sure whether you truly want to get it or not. You should consider this before you decide to attempt to answer how to make tattoo stencils.

Then, take your transfer paper and lay it on a flat surface. You will then take your carbon paper with the ink side downward on to the transfer one.

You will tape the image on to the top of the carbon paper and the transfer one. This will help you to hold it in place.

Therefore, trace the image with a number two pencil or mechanical one if you have it. You will need to press rather hard along the lines for the tattoo design to transfer sufficiently. You should check that that each line is traced over.

You can then cut the image out of the transfer paper and generally leave about 2 inches around the edge of it.

After this you can rub the deodorant over the area of your body where the tattoo will be placed. This allows your skin to become moistened and of the transfer paper to firmly stick.

This is all a part of the process when answering how to make tattoo stencils.

Take your transfer paper and apply it to your skin. You will need to rub this stencil in your skin until the full transfer is on the area.

They can turn out even better if you take proper care of one. Everyone wants to know how to care for a new tattoo. This is understandable since no one wants theirs to self destruct. Here are the simple things you need to know right off the bat.

Firstly, you should keep in mind that your tattoo artist is your friend. This simply means that you should take their advice to heart. This is extremely easy to do when you know and trust them. This is why it is essential that you choose an artist that you are comfortable with. They will have very descriptive instructions on how to properly aid the the healing of your new tattoo.

Secondly, You should keep your bandage on your skin. You generally want to do this for at least 3 hours or so. This will give your tattoo plenty of covering to work with. This timeline is normally given by your tattoo artist. This time period is essential since you do not want any bacteria or germs getting into your new found image.

Thirdly, you will want to wash your new work with some warm water. Make sure to wash it with an unscented liquid soap. You will want to use your actual hands during the process and not a washcloth. This will help you gently remove any lingering blood. After you are done you can pat dry the area with a towel and do not rub under any circumstances. These are all things to look out for when answering how to care for a new tattoo?

Then when it is dry you can apply ointment for the next couple of days. You will want to apply a thin layer and not over compensate at all.

Now, obviously their intentions were not to end up looking like dorks. They had thought getting tattoos would be a cool thing to do. Getting tattooed has always had an element of coolness to it. So how is it that some people end up looking like dorks?

Here’s the problems they made and how you can learn from their mistakes:

1. Too Much ink! A common mistake with getting inked is over doing it. Most people start out with a few tattoos. Usually they make poor choices to begin with and then try to make it up with additional ink. Sometimes this turns into a snowball effect and they just keep adding and adding. In the end they have a ridiculous mess of various designs which don’t flow together nor go together.

2. Doing it yourself! There’s always been a trend for “do it yourself” homemade tattooing. And there has always been the same outcome as a result: horrible and foolish looking ink that get’s laughed at. Never skimp on tattoos. Pick a high quality design which will tattoo well, and get a professional or a good amateur artist to put your ink on.

3. Drunk Ink! You can definitely end up looking beyond ridicolous if you get your tattoo when you are drunk. I once met a young man who had a horrible looking playboy bunny tattooed on his arm with the word “playboy” written underneath it, except playboy was actually spelled wrong. His excuse was that he was drunk and allowed his also drunk girlfriend to tattoo him. There are countless other examples of people ending up with really bad and stupid looking designs because they were intoxicated.

Miami Ink is a reality TV show, on the Learning Channel (LTC), filmed on location at South Beach, Miami. It takes you behind the scenes so you can see and experience the real emotion of getting a tattoo and what they mean to the people getting inked. The show exposes tats for what they really are – a means of self expression that have deep significant meanings for the people getting them. Based on the diverse range of people getting inked, it becomes very obvious that it is popular in all corners of society. While some of the clients are experienced and have already got a number of designs, we also get to watch people getting their first body art, and the process they go through as they try to develop an idea into a design.

The real beauty of the show is listening to the stories that the people provide behind why they are getting their tattoo and what the particular design means to them. Most of the stories are truly inspiring. The show allows us inside so we can watch from the moment the client enters the parlor through to the completed work of art. We get to live the experience as the client works with an idea to develop a completed design, then watch as they get the artwork and finally show off the end product, stunning body art. It is amazing to watch.

For anybody thinking of getting their first tat, the show is a great way to see how others start with an idea and work with that to slowly develop the end result. You get to see the evolution of the design, the thought process behind it and the final product. You also get to see how people select where on your body to locate the body art, a very important decision that you must get right. You get to see first hand how hard it is to get a really good design.

Miami Ink, through TLC, even allows people to apply to be auditioned to go on the show. They require you to have a good idea of what design you want before hand, and which artist you want to be tattooed by, but you could be inked on the show and become a star!

Behind each individual story are the artists that provide continuity from one show to the next – They are Ami James, Chris Garver, Darren Brass, Chris Nunez and apprentice Yojiro Harada. Their different characters are a good mix and you get to see the artists as they work and also play. They provide the entertainment to keep people tuning in the following week, to watch as new clients walk in the door with an idea and watch the idea turn into a stunning tattoo design to be proud of.

A Short Guide to Tattoo Designs

This short Guide to Tattoos and Choosing Tattoo Designs is intended to give you an insider view on the process of getting tattoos and the importance of choosing the right tattoo design. Obviously tattoos are a permanent mark on your body and as such can represent an important stage in life or have some other personal meaning. The best tattoos are not necessarily the ones that look the best but sometimes are the ones that have the deepest meanings…

Before you get tattooed you should consider the ultimate reason why you are getting tattooed. It is helpful if you try to learn as much as you can about different styles of tattoos before visiting your tattoo artist. Certain tattoo designs can have totally different meanings to what you may have previously thought and can also be associated with a particular cultural group – in the case of ethnographic tattoos or gang tattoos. The last thing you want is to get a particular type of tattoo that will overshadow who you really are, or worse, mean something different than what you intended.

This is particularly true of kanji tattoo designs. If you are getting a kanji tattoo design make sure you have the words professionally translated and verified by someone who is knowledgeable on the different styles of Japanese script. Don’t rely on some free kanji design taken from a website or picked straight off a tattoo flash sheet in the studio. It is estimated that in some studios there is a 25% chance that the translation you see on the tattoo flash sheet is wrong! There are many documented cases of Westerners getting Asian style tattoos that ended up being complete gobbledygook!

Another important factor to consider is where you are going to have the tattoo design. The placement of a tattoo is not to be taken lightly. It is a good idea to discuss the size and placement of your chosen tattoo design with the tattoo artist BEFORE the needle actually touches your skin. Once that needle starts up and the artist gets to work it is very hard to change your mind and even harder to have it removed. Professional tattoo removalists will tell you it can cost ten times as much to get the tattoo removed as it does to be laid down in the first place. Getting a tattoo emblazoned across your hands or neck may seem like a cool idea when you are young but will you still feel good about it in 10 or 20 years time? Think of the long term impact of highly visible ink will have on your life.

Choose a tattoo design that reflects who you are not as a fashion statement. Tattoo designs come and go. What was in ten years ago is not whats in now. Although there are certain mainstays in tattooing. Tattoo styles such as Traditional American, Black and Grey Tattoos, Celtic tattoo designs, tribal tattoo designs (ethnographic style) and Japanese tattoo designs will always be around and won’t ‘age’ badly unlike other types of tattoo designs such as cartoon characters, certain styles of tribal designs, barbed wire arm-bands or even tramp stamps!

Sometimes size DOES matter! Why bother getting a tattoo that looks like a piece of grime from a few metres away? I know the natural inclination for tattoo virgins is to start small and then work up to bigger designs later on. But rather than getting a tiny tattoo the size of your fingernail why not think about the overall picture and GO BIG instead? Presumably you are getting inked because you like the idea of altering your body NOT because everyone else is getting tattoos. A good idea is to think of your body as a blank canvas and visualize how a tattoo design is going to evolve on your body over the course of your lifetime.

It is often said by people who have been tattooed that it is like losing your virginity! Even while your first tattoo is still healing you will possibly be thinking about your next one. The sensation of being tattooed, the rush, the smell of the shop and even the bonding with the tattoo artist can all be very memorable and intense. This bonding can be so strong that many people will go to the same tattoo artist for all of their tattoos. Either way show your tattoo artist the respect they deserve and if you love their work leave a big fat tip!

The practice of tattoos in Borneo has a rich tradition going back centuries and still seems to be alive and well. Borneo is the third largest island in the world and is a hostile region with few Westerners venturing in. As a result descriptions of tattoos were rare before the start of the twentieth century. There were many accounts of headhunting amongst the indigenous people which put off a lot of people from getting very far but fortunately since the colonization by the Dutch this practice has been outlawed!

The Kayan tribe are the source of most tattoo designs which spread to other tribes such as the Iban and Kenyah. The Kayan style (which means interior or inland person) of tattoos owes its popularity to its wood-block stamp technique. Tribe members would carve patterns into blocks of wood and then transfer it onto the skin. Tribes such as the Iban would then borrow tattoo motifs from the Kayan and others and adapt to suit their own tribe.

As a result tattoos spread throughout Borneo amongst different tribes as tribal members came back with different tattoo designs as a proof of their ventures much in the same way a passport is stamped when going to different countries. The traditional rosettes are still popular with the older generation with the younger generation going for more modern tattoo designs such as Asian inspired dragons and pin up girls.

Of all the tribes in Borneo the Iban tribe is the most heavily tattooed with designs copied from the Kayan Kenyah and Bakatan tribes. The most common tattoo designs were the throat motif called the katak. Wrist tattoos called inkut were also common. They were believed to stop the soul from escaping the body.

Dogs, scorpions and rosettes were especially popular most often collected by members of a tribe during travels and encounters with other tribal members. The rosette was beleived to a symbol of a dogs eye by some tribes which revered the dog even though it was not a sacred animal. Other tribes belived the rosette was a depiction of a flower.

Tattoos in Borneo have become decorative even though in the past they were worn to detail a tribe members status. Tattoos such as dots found between the thumb and index finger can indicate that the person has killed someone and members of the Murut tribe earned tattoos as a reward for perilous journeys which are still commonplace. Nowadays this style of tattoos are most often seen on those who have adopted the new tribal style of tattoos.

Tattoos have become big business in the Middle East with young people in Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt rediscovering tattoos again. Up until the 19th century tattoos were a way of titillating men. Arabic prostitutes would tattoo their hands, arms and even their breasts for this purpose. Although erotic tattoos on the breasts are not as common nowadays as what they once were in the Middle East.

The Beduoin (nomadic) people and Gypsies (Nawar) seem to be the main influence on tattoo designs of both Arabic and non Arabic tribes. Bedouin women were the most heavily tattooed of and were most likely tattooed by the Nawar. The Nawar tattooed people from Syria, Egypt, Libya, Iran and Iraq right up until the start of the 20th century.

In Iran, even upper class women had pattern of blue starts on their chins. These chin designs were sometimes highly elaborate looking and looked more like a beard than a tattoo. Alongside that was another practice by women of the Middle Easy of tattooing the lips blue. This was considered to be the embodiment of beauty by Iraqi men.

Tattoos were quite extensively used as amulets in the Middle East with the wearers imbuing them with magical powers. These were often in the form of dots or a small cross. They were mostly done on the hands or feet and it was common to see women with three dots on the hand. They either provided protection or strength depending on which hand.

Nowadays the demand for tattoos has exploded particularly amongst young Iranian women who proudly display their body art in private but must keep them under wraps from authorities. Places such as Tehran have always been the birthplaces for nearly every limit-testing trend since the strict dress codes of the Islamic Revolution began to erode in the late 1990s and tattoos don’t seem to be any different.

Common sense dictates that sometimes a person getting art on their body will not want it to always be there. This gives rise to a number of questions, and has also led to some “tattoo artists” promising customers that they can have a tattoo which will not wash off today or tomorrow, but will fade away in a month, a year or so. It should be recognised that there is no real temporary tattoo. When ink goes beneath the skin, it is there for keeps, barring long-term surgery. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is a liar.

You can get body art done which will go away quickly. This, however, is only possible if the drawing is done onto the top layer of skin. It will wash away in one go, if you scrub hard enough, and if you do not it will come away in parts. If you want a tattoo just for one specific occasion, this is the kind of body art to go for. It is not, in real terms, a tattoo. A tattoo is when the ink is put underneath epidermis, and if you scrub hard enough to wash that off your next stop is the emergency room.

Think long and hard before adorning your skin with body art. It can look fantastic, but you need to know what you are getting. If someone tells you that the tattoo will merely fade, walk out of the shop. Body art that can be washed off in one go, or a tattoo that will be there unless you get it removed by a surgeon – those are your choices and there is no middle ground.

Many people go out and get tattoos without first thinking clearly about what they are going to get. They will show up at a tattoo parlor and lie back after telling the artist what they want, and once the ink has been put on they often sit forward for a look and are appalled by what they see. The important lesson to take from the experiences of these people is that a tattoo is permanent and getting one that looks bad will haunt you for some time. You should be absolutely clear about what you want the tattoo to look like, as the risks of permanent disfigurement are high.

Before you even step inside a tattoo parlor you should either draw or print out a picture to represent what you want drawn on you. This leaves no room for misinterpretation, something which can happen all too easily, particularly if you ask for something a little more esoteric or intricate than usual. It also gives the artist himself something to work from – just as oils and canvas artists work from photographs a lot of the time.

Tattoos can cost a lot of money, and the more intricate ones can look either excellent or horrific. Avoiding being in the second group requires having a firm idea and communicating it clearly. The more examples you have at your disposal, the better. And if you want a tattoo that is all text, perhaps a quote from a song or a book, write it down and spell it clearly. Typos may be OK in an e-mail to a friend, but on your skin they are another matter.

Some people have simply awful tattoos. This should not be seen as a call to condemn the entire idea of getting a tattoo, but it should be a quiet reminder to anyone thinking of getting ink done that they need to be careful before letting the needle anywhere near their skin. It may sound like a great idea at 9.30pm one night, and look like a horrible mess twelve hours later. There is a reason why most tattoo parlors will refuse to tattoo anyone who even appears intoxicated.

We have surely all seen them. Tattoos which depict a cartoon character in an obscene pose. Tattoos which take a fairly weak visual joke and stretch it so far that it breaks. Tattoos which have two arrows – one pointing up with “The Man” written underneath it, and the other pointing down towards their crotch with “The Legend” written above. If you are going to get a tattoo, make sure it is conceptualised when you are stone cold sober. A drunken tattoo will not cause people to think you’re a hilarious, crazy guy, but it might make them think you are a loser.

It is also worth checking out the credentials of the parlor where you go before you get the tattoo. If you have a friend who has a great-looking tattoo, ask where he went and go there. Do not just go to any tattoo parlor, because some really are not very good, and they will leave you with a tattoo that looks nothing like you were expecting.
